The game is awesome and addicting at the same time! I had a great time playing this. I really liked the music and combat style. You did a great job! Btw the struggle is definitely real lol!
An amazing game, I really had fun playing this. Thank you for reaching out to me and giving me the privilege of experiencing this game, it really was something else. I actually didn't want to stop playing its slightly addicting to me 😂 excellent job 👍
FINALLY! Got a chance to play this after the dev reached out to me. From what I saw it looked interesting/fun but still didn't know if I was going to enjoy it or not. But once I started playing I honestly COULDN'T put it down! I had a ton of fun with it, It took me about two hours to complete all 7 stages and reach the final boss and beat em up. The various weapons, upgrades to said weapons and different abilities you can buy between zones and different variety of characters with different skill sets and weapons is all great and creative adding various sorts of different play styles you can mess around with! Including once you beat the game all the modifiers *called Struggle* ingame that you can adjust to add more of a challenge for a second playthrough offers even more replayability to the game making it more fun to challenge ones self after beating the main game. I didn't find the normal difficulty that hard unlike others have stated. I only died fully once and had to restart a playthrough again but on the second one I beat the game. But the game does offer an easier variant to its normal for players who are struggling or not used to these sorta games. Overall a fun experience!
This was a lot of fun even though I'm obviously not very good at it. I love the cute little art style and the funny sound effects when the baddies go down. I like the different heroes you can play as, the different types of weapons, and various bonuses you can select (at least the ones I saw). This is a cool game; thanks for sending me a key to play! Also, my mouth tracking wasn't working that great for this video; I apologize for that.
Hai! This was actually pretty good! It was tough and I didn't make it all the way, lolol. ( I played for a solid 2 1/2 hours ) Here's a link to my lil video:
Thank you for letting me know about The Struggle of Combat!
The graphics are simple and cute. The graphics are simple and cute, and each stage is filled with tough enemies and bosses. The controls are simple, but there are many different weapons and upgrades to enjoy.
I think it would be better if the enemies had less HP depending on the difficulty level, so that people who are not good at this game can enjoy it.
Thank you for asking me to play your game! I wasn't quite sure about it initially, as I haven't played a game like this in years. But that just added to the fun! It brought me back to high-quality indie flash games when I was younger and I seriously loved every second of playing it! Amazing gameplay and nicely put-together game!
First of all, thank you so much for ask me to play your game. Tbh, I never thought that I'll be having so much fun playing this game! I hope I'm not looked annoying to you in my video. But, that's me when I'm having fun. I never judge the game by the graphic, as long it has great gameplay, I'm sold!
A crazy game, it may seem like a bad game visually but quite the opposite. It has managed to hook me from the beginning and as you progress and you get more things you want to continue playing.
I just missed a little visual feedback on the player when taking damage. I really enjoyed it and will play again.
Despite being reminiscing of something made in paint, I really think this art-style brings a unique characteristic and charm to the game!
The gameplay was nothing out of ten ordinary but really fun none the less. The mechanics worked really well and the game was properly balanced.
I think the extension for the game by adding new conditions to the game is a clever and simple way of extending the gameplay. The game certainly leaves plenty of play time to satisfy the player, and loads of challenges to overcome.
I am going to stop my own gameplay here, as it takes quite the while to complete the entire game, and as it leaves much more for those watching to explore!
In it's own right, this game is a 5/5 star project!
Hello! I sat down to play your game the other day. Have to say it really fun, you couldn't tell from the gameplay, lol. Wasn't sure what to expect. later on I got the hang of it. Love the look of Struggle of Combat. So I made a video on my channel. enjoy the video. I enjoyed playing it! Have a good one!
I'm glad you requested for me to play this game because it's soo much fun, and can get intense pretty quick! For the amount of content that is within the game, I'd say it's well worth the price tag! It's not something you're gonna annihilate in 15 minutes. I managed to get to the fourth stage without restarting on normal. The BAZOOKA was closest friend during these hard times hahaha
I enjoyed the game ^^ Didn't really get as far is I wanted, but it's a smooth game. I like the weapons and the powerups , I only tested 2 classes so can't say much about that but you're doing a great job with it :)
There's a lot to like about this game. Certainly brought back memories of retro style shooters found on random websites when I was at school supposedly doing research.
There's a completely over-the-top, zany plot, loads of weapons to pick up and try out, tonnes of unique enemies all with their own weapons and skills, bosses who really refuse to give up and plenty of infuriation.
The only thing I would say is that the gap between easy and normal mode is a bit large (easy mode gives you 10 attempts per level, normal mode 2), but other than that this is a solid side-scrolling shoot-em-up with a lot of replay value, especially with the randomization of the levels and power-ups you can get.
Well worth your time, I'd say, just don't come crying / screaming at me when you die for the millionth time!
This game kinda reminded me of the games that I played in Y8 back in the day, the artwork, the sound, the way you shoot and even the leveling system in the game. As you progress in the game, The level becomes more challenging than the last one and the dev really nailed that one.
I also love that you can upgrade your weapons, there are also some perks that will help you to clear a level. and there are some characters that is unlockable and those elements in the game keeps the player playing for a long time.
But, I have a few suggestions dev: - the platforming element in the game. For me, the platforming in the game is too simple. I mean it's not bad but it feels like it is lacking at some point in the game. Maybe some slopes, spikes, wall jumps and a little bit of a sliding action would make the gameplay a little bit more interesting and challenging than what it is.
- the artwork The artwork needs a little bit of a rework or some details in it. (unless you're really aiming for this kind of style of artwork then you can just skip this part lol). anyway, some part of the game just looks too plain. the background looks plain and the enemies looks plain as well. just like what I said there is not much of a shaders or details in it.
I'm sorry for some harsh feedback but I just want people not just us content creators to be like "Wow! this game is amazing!" "This game is really fun!" "This game is really worth paying for!" and stuff like that.
Overall, the game is fun as it is. the more you progress in the game the more chaotic it gets and I loved it. No bugs in the game which is good, the controls are also good. but some updates or improvements would make any player of this game hooked and will play it for hours and hours.
Thanks for suggestions. I agree that platforming is very simple. I focused more on shooting aspect. I have made some experiementing with traps thought. Maybe i will add them later. https://yrbiax.itch.io/the-struggle-of-combat/devlog/173470/minor-update-4 As for artwork i probably wont be changing it too much, but i do plan on improving menus.
Made me really nostalgic for flash games with the art style and the gameplay reminds me of Risk of Rain in the best possible way. Way deeper than the game initially lets on; really liked it!
I freaking love this game! I'm so glad the dev reached out and introduced me to it 💛 I made a video of my first 30 minutes as the police officer if you want to take a little peek at the game before buying it but I do recommend it 💛💛💛🧡
Good game! I really enjoyed it. It had that old school Flash game vibe that really got me interested from the start. I like roguelike games, and the features here, with all the characters, upgrades, keys and secrets to be unlocked, make every playthrough unique, fun, and challenging in different ways. I didn't finish the game all the way through in this video but, I'll definitely play this on my free time. Good game design and smooth gameplay. All the mechanics and gimmicks flow neatly with everything.
Good stuff, dev! Looking forward to more projects!
Please check out the video and my channel: VladMan
Really fun game, especially if you like rogue-lites like Binding of Isaac or Hades. Controls are really well refined, super fun upgrades and unlockable characters too, and you can pick how difficult you want the game to be. Thanks!
Even though this game isn't my type of game I gave a review to help the developers. And explained what things I would have liked to be better but this is my opinion and everyone's is different. I hope you get some insight from my video.
Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen reading this! I'm the Lost Chevalier, your humble narrator in this, my review, of this game. Because this is a paid game I will put all my effort to give it a fair and accurate review, so let's jump into it.
The basic review: the game is good, it has a lot of replayability and the potential to be responsible for hours and hours of fun. I would say that the price is a little too high (but this is debatable, the game has a ton of features, and I mean a TON), but now that it is on sale it is a very good game to have in your library.
The more advanced review: The game is a side-scroller shooter with roguelike elements (after two stages you can choose a perk that accompanies you for the rest of the run). The enemies have a health bar that you need to drain in order to defeat them (with more than one shot unless you have, like in my case, the crossbow) , and they all have their own AI and special attacks. Every two stages one encounters a boss, who represents a unique challenge, using different special attacks and patterns of engagement. The world of the game is creative and full of color, reminiscent of the one in the Stickmin series.
There are tons of weapons, some of which have special effects, like homing bullets, explosive bullets, triple bullets, all of witch are limited in amount and, despise appear to be a ton, they can run out (in other words: you need to have good aim).
They are a lot of characters to choose from (once you do some stuff to unlock them), and they all have a special ability, like a flashbang, a lasso, or a bomb (to name a few), these are things that can give you an edge or take you out of a sticky situation.
There are even tons of "mods" that can be applied to the runs, like the difficulty that goes from hardcore to EXTREME, and a ton of other stuff to play with, once unlocked.
Overall, the game is a ton of fun, and I will be playing it in my free time in order to beat it and unlock more stuff. Do I recommend you to buy it? Well, yes, it's a ton of old school arcade fun. If you like side-scrollers go for it, you will not be disappointed.
I honestly loved the game! even though I didn't play through the full game but the fact that I was engaged sooo much in it..like bruh. I normally play horrors but this is the type of game I can literally play on my phone to kill time.. I hinted at play on the phone cause I really wish this has a mobile version in the upcoming updates.

It was a lot of fun. Truly. Catroony graphics, nice sound tracks, variety of enemies and simple, but effective combat. Nicely done.
Hey I will be making video 2 of this game. What did you update again?
I reworked ammo upgrades and made some bug fixes. I will be saving bigger changes for later update.
Ok how do I play the upgraded one 😁
Just download it again. I replaced old version with new one. It has same name, so your old save file should work with new version.

Fun game. I like the enemies, they kept me on my toes. Been a long time since I played this type of game.

Yo, this game was challenging but I still had a lot of fun with it! Don't sleep on this game. Keep up the good work!

Good game! Aside from the graphics, this is still enjoyable to play. The randomly generated for each stages are what gives this game and endless fun.
Overall this is a pretty decent game. Really good job!

Whew! That was...frustrating! lol I made it much further than I thought I would (especially on easy ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ) but I had fun.
I finally got the chance to play your game. I didn’t know what to expect, but it was enjoyable. Once I got to the cave, I got waxed. Still fun though.
I enjoyed the game ^^ Didn't really get as far is I wanted, but it's a smooth game. I like the weapons and the powerups , I only tested 2 classes so can't say much about that but you're doing a great job with it :)
I just uploaded this video, but I really do like this game. It's
super fun and different from the amount of random generating that there is implemented into this game. The music is quite quirky too.
Gave you a follow to for any future projects you might make :D

I shooted a mans. Then I eviscerated him with my rod. Average day.
Really enjoyed this! Threw me back to my childhood of playing the side scrollers!
NOSTALGIC EXPERIENCE!

Made another video
Thanks for these videos! Has been fun to watch your struggles :D
Happy you enjoyed the videos
